Planet Quarry.

This is the fictitious planet Quarry from my short story. The image is 100% Pure POV-Ray (No image/bump maps) And is some of the best texturing I have ever done. Let me stress again...I used NO MAPS! (I only said it twice because I get E-Mail asking for the maps I used....)

Self Portrait.

This image is a hybrid Pov-Ray / Photoshop work. The actual alien was made in Pov-Ray but the nifty energy swirl (don't you hate it when I use these techie terms?) is Photoshop. This is what I look like (In alien form)

Planet Lorien.

Yet another fictitious planet. This is the first serious image I made using my new crater texture. No image/bump maps were used. The atmosphere is a halo (for those of you who are curious)

RGB-Chip.

This is one of my better logos for @rtique it is made entirely in Photoshop. The 3D effects are made using Lighting Effects Filter using a height-map made from a bad photo of the back of a motherboard.

Crescent Moon.

This is the original screen test for my new crater texture. This texture is a combination normal/pigment which took me roughly a month to bring to the point at which you see it. This isn't really a finished image (there aren't even any stars) But the texture sorta speaks for itself so I left it alone.

"This is me posing in front of the Mars PathFinder".

Here is my most recent photo fake. I took one of the images from the Mars Pathfinder vehicle and "Enhanced" it somewhat. This is one of the better alterations of those Pathfinder images available. The alien is rendered (Yes he is the same one who appears in "Self Portrait") The hardest part was matching the tones and lighting.

I'm Watching You!
Or "He's Got the Whole World In His Hands"

I did this image just for fun. The alien is rendered in Pov-Ray and I painted the earth under his fingers (and in his eyes) with Photoshop. The lighting was tricky; When I made the POV-Ray rendering I created a small area light in front of his torso to simulate the light given off by the earth. This one turned out better than I expected it would.

Underwater Experiment #1.
(Inspiring title isn't it?)

This is a screen test of my attempt at an underwater image. It went pretty well. This is fairly simple when you break it down...there is a plane above the camera with a semi-transparent bozo pigment and a bozo normal. There is a light source above the plane. The plane is hollow, and there is a standard atmosphere. Simple but very effective.

RozCD interface image
(Yet another inspiring title...)

I have recently begun work on a CD-Player app written in Visual Basic. I decided that I wanted the main interface to be a CD with the track names printed on it...so I went looking for a photograph of a CD. Three days of web-hunting later I decided that it would be enough to make one in Photoshop. The image you see is completely artificial. Made in Photoshop. (Note : the large version of this image is a 128color GIF hence some grain is inevitable)

Fog-Water experiment #1.
(I have now cornered the market in boring titles!)

This image demonstrates the idea I came up with on how to do accurate looking transparent water; Use FOG of course! Don't get it? I'll get out my visual aid....

The purpose of all this is to make objects submerged in the water fade as they get deeper. Good for animations. MAKE SURE YOUR PLANE IS HOLLOW.

Another Experiment - This is a completely Photoshop image I did to test various methods of faking reflections.

New Cyber City.

This is the replacement for my aged Cyber City image. I made it mostly as an excuse to test the Kopp LensFlare .INC file. The camera is an odd type to make the cylinders overhead bend. Can you spot the error that I haven't fixed yet?

Bumpy Julia.

This image was another of those accidents that were better than planning could have made them. The actual shape of the julia was Created with KPT2 (Yes 2) but it has had some major renovations. I won't give a step by step account of how this effect was Created - but I will say this... I LOVE Lighting Effects.

Bumpy Julia Returns.

This time It's Personal. This image is a second fractal image that uses most of the same techniques as the first.... I LOVE Lighting Effects.

Color Cube.

This is my experiment with the new Pov-ray 3.0 recursion functions. This image used a triple nested loop to create the cube and the colors were specified by their position X=Red Y=Blue etc. I got the idea for this image from an image Sean Ahern did some time ago using spheres instead of super-ellipsoids.

Nebulae Planet.

This is one of my best Pov-Ray images. It is also a scene which is a lot simpler than it looks. The two moons are simple spheres with image mapped textures. The planet is a Bozo textured sphere with a larger halo sphere to simulate atmosphere. The nebulae is a halo. On a sad note : I lost the source to this image due to a hard drive failure. So I probably couldn't do it again if I wanted to. :-)

@rtique moldish logo.

The name of my new graphics company is @rtique. This logo shows the @ symbol in a mess if brightly colored moldish stuff. Again I owe lighting effects a debt of gratitude for this image.

Magic : The Gathering™ / Mana symbols.

These symbols are adapted from the popular trading card game Magic : The Gathering™. Each was Created from a black and white version of just the symbol. I used different methods to produce each symbol. (The symbols themselves are a trademark of Wizards of the Coast.)

Magic : The Gathering™ / Five sphere logo.

Speaking of Magic: The Gathering - This design of five colored spheres was featured on the covers of the decks (among other things) of Magic : The Gathering™ trading cards. I think it looks cool so I made a rendered version of it. So far as I can tell this five sphere design is not trademarked or copyrighted.

A ... uhm ... Thing.

Well what would you call it? It sure looks cool though doesn't it? The actual scene is dead simple...A White_Marble sphere with the Ambient set all the way up and a box with a blue rippled reflective texture. I really like this ... uhm ... thing.

@rtique Pyramid Logo.

Here is another almost accidental image. :-) This is another @rtique logo incorporating about 18 steps from white canvas to finished image. It wasn't as easy as it looks.

The World on a platter.

This one is pretty simple - The Earth is just a sphere with a NASA Image-Map, The checkered box is as simple as it gets, and the surface below is just a blue plane with ripples. The lighting is what makes this image. There is one spotlight pointing at the plane and one low intensity omni-light giving the rest diffuse illumination.
